Granite Engraving Machine

BCTC BHLRB 7A3D Seven Axis Robot for Granite Monuments and Sculptures
The difficulty in processing granite lies not in its hardness itself, but in the cascading costs it incurs: granite has a high quartz content, with quartz particles having a Mohs hardness of 7. This leads to faster tool wear, longer manual carving cycles, and difficulty in achieving consistent surface finishes. The BCTC BHLRB 7A3D is a granite engraving machine with a seven axis linkage structure. It can complete roughing, carving, and finishing in a single setup and can operate continuously overnight. Its goal is to transform granite carving from a process initially reliant on human experience into a repeatable, scheduled, and stable process without sacrificing detail quality.
How can machines meet the demand for granite?
| Properties of granite | How to deal with BHLRB 7A3D |
| With a Mohs hardness of 7, higher than hardened tool steel, it has a high cutting load. | The KUKA industrial robotic arm is equipped with a 15 kW variable speed spindle, which is rigid enough to maintain a constant cutting load during high-intensity machining. |
| Interlocking abrasive structures cause continuous wear on cutting tools, resulting in uncontrollable tool consumption. | Roughing/fine/finishing, the staged toolpaths are pre-planned in the software to ensure that each tool works within the design scope. |
| The vertical axis cannot reach the undercut and deep relief areas. | With a six axis rotary structure plus a seventh axis, the tool approaches from below and rear, eliminating the need for repeated positioning. |
| Silica dust can easily penetrate bearings and circuits, leading to malfunctions. | The robotic arm joints are IP 65 protected and equipped with positive pressure air purging. Water, air, and power lines all operate inside the robotic arm. |

How is precision reflected in the quotation?
Repeatability < ±0.06 mm
Consistent forming results are maintained across multiple runs of the same program.
Contour following path planning
SprutCAM toolpath planning maintains the tool tilt angle within ±2° of the workpiece surface normal. The cutting angle remains constant at the set value when machining curved sidewalls, blades, and similar geometries.

Multi face machining with a single setup
The continuous rotary table supports a maximum load of 8000 kg, allowing machining to be completed in a single setup.
Maximum machining dimensions: 1200 × 2300 mM
Capable of machining an entire granite slab or processing column segments in a single operation.
Capable of continuous production even under harsh granite working conditions
Transmission and guideway protection
Linear guides and racks are fully enclosed for dust and water protection, isolating them from stone powder and wastewater, and reducing wear on moving parts.
01
Water cooled spindle for continuous heat dissipation
A water cooled spindle with a circulating cooling system prevents overheating and shutdowns during prolonged cutting.
02
Cable and electrical protection
Fully shielded cabling reduces short circuits and signal interruptions.
03
Uninterrupted nighttime operation
Comprehensive hardware protection supports unattended nighttime production and 24-hour continuous operation.
04
Offline Programming
After importing 3D models of scanned parts from CAD designs or existing engravings into CAD/CAM/OLP software, the system generates toolpaths, performs verification, and outputs the execution program.
The software is based on the SprutCAM robot's CAM system, requiring no programming experience from operators; only CAM knowledge is necessary. Granite engraving machine lowers the programming barrier from the level of a robot engineer to the level of a CAM operator.
